Apply to Become a Buddy

Current students provide new students with practical information, answers to initial questions and direct them to other relevant student services.

There are lots of opportunities to meet other new and current students.

This is an informal scheme but we suggest meeting once a week for the first few months of the term. For the remainder of the year it’s up to you and your Buddy how often you meet.

Meeting times and location can be flexible and are mutually agreed between Buddies and new students.

We organise a series of events for you to enjoy, meet new people and experience some of the things Kent has to offer!

Buddies and new students will be paired according to both of your preferences as far as possible, e.g. interests, subject, hobbies and language. Due to time constraints, there may be a delay in being matched with your buddy. Apologies for any inconvenience.

The Buddy Scheme

Have you been a buddy at Kent or elsewhere before?

Please pick the 3 most important to you and in the order of priority (please note: it may not be possible to match you by your preference but every effort will be made to do so)

What are your interests?
If there are more new students wishing to have a ‘buddy’ than buddies available, it may be necessary to pair more than one new student with a buddy volunteer. Are you happy to be paired with more than one new student if necessary?
How many hours would you be willing to volunteer with the Buddy scheme each week?
For Health and Safety reasons we need to have a named contact for you. This could be a parent, guardian, another member of your family or a close friend. They do not need to live in the UK.
