If you applied as a new student:
Matching occurs after all Buddy Volunteers have been trained. We hope to have everyone matched up as soon after training as possible so buddies can get in touch with each other by email to organise an initial meet up.
If you applied to be a Buddy Volunteer:
Volunteers will be contacted and invited to a training session organised by the Buddy Scheme Coordinator which takes place in September. This is an opportunity for volunteers to ask questions about the scheme and for the Buddy Scheme Coordinator to get to know them better. The session will ensure that the volunteers are confident in their role as a Buddy and are clear about what is expected of them, and what support is available.
You are expected to contact the students you have been matched with as soon as you receive the email notifying you. We recommend that you contact each other via email to begin with and then arrange to meet up in a public place on campus. You can meet up individually with your Buddy Volunteer at first or in the group that you have been matched with - it is entirely up to you.
